Ein Kerem, Jerusalem One  of the Sisters who had the privilege of visiting the Holy Land this summer discovered a precious jewel, hidden in the ancient village of Ein Kerem - The Church of the Visitation - Mary's encounter with Elizabeth. Delightful 1 min. video of Ein Kerem Here in Ein Kerem, situated in the Judean hills on the western outskirts of Jerusalem, we are reminded of the birth of John the Baptist and of Mary’s encounter with Elizabeth. EXCERPT FROM LUKE 1: Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country, to a city of Judah, and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy [...]

To Give Thanks Means to Receive This joyous Thanksgiving message by Mother Basilea Schlink, reminds us that for every difficulty in our lives, the way to receive help is to give thanks. There is tremendous power in thanking the Lord. When we give thanks something happens… When we say, “Lord, You always have a way,” we praise the love of God which finds a way and carries us through. What are a few worries and problems to the Lord who created heaven and earth – for whom nothing is impossible? To think about His love and might makes us strong and happy. To praise His love and power drives away cares and sadness, and when God wills – even change people, relationships and difficulties. God is Lord over them all… He need only say one word, and people’s hearts, minds [...]

Joy Comes in the Morning

By |2019-05-22T10:40:09-07:00May 21st, 2019|Categories: Uncategorized|6 Comments

Emmaus, a small village in the Holy Land associated with the Easter story, tells of joy after deep suffering. Yes, Emmaus tells that joy - not suffering - is the end of the story, for the disciples were privileged to find Jesus again as the living Lord. Emmaus speaks of the fulfillment of Jesus’ words. ‘You will be sad, but your sadness will turn into joy’. On that same day two of Jesus’ followers were going to a village named Emmaus… As they talked and discussed, Jesus himself drew near and walked along with them; they saw him, but somehow did not recognize him. Wasn't it like a fire [...]

Loving Jesus Can Bring Him Comfort in His Suffering Today

By |2019-04-11T22:02:30-07:00April 11th, 2019|Categories: Uncategorized|3 Comments

As we daily hear the news, it can be overwhelming. Basilea Schlink shared with us… When I heard the news… I was over-whelmed with grief. But then I experienced something remarkable. In my heart Jesus seemed to be telling me over and over again one thing that would bring Him the greatest comfort: “Love Me! Oh, love Me!” And then it was as if His deep grief were submerged in love. And I could sense how it comforted Him when I told Him over and over again how much I loved Him and when I proclaimed who He really is, and then sang songs of love for Jesus. Melody to verse below Oh, [...]

Merry Christmas!

By |2018-12-07T11:01:23-07:00December 7th, 2018|Categories: Uncategorized|2 Comments

My little Lord Jesus cares. My heartache and sorrow He shares. So full of love and sympathy, He suffers with us in our pain and grief. Our pain and grief. At Christmas He comes to us, Sheds radiance on every cross, Refreshing our afflicted souls, As one day above in our heavenly home, Our heavenly home.   How do the Sisters celebrate Christmas? Mother Basilea writes in her autobiography: “For most of us in the Sisterhood the secret of Christmas had been a matter of the intellect - a concept, a thought, a fact, a tradition, but not a living event or a source of divine life... It was my prayer and deep longing that the Child Jesus would receive true [...]

Like the rush of a mighty wind the Holy Spirit comes

By |2018-05-18T17:47:11-07:00May 18th, 2018|Categories: Uncategorized|Comments Off on Like the rush of a mighty wind the Holy Spirit comes

Mother Basilea shares in The Holy Land Today, “Like the rush of a mighty wind the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Godhead, comes down to earth...he seeks out specific people, the disciples, a handful of miserable failures, who had lost faith and deserted their Lord during His Passion, for in the poor and needy He can demonstrate His power as Creator Spirit... He imbues despondent and fearful hearts with courage and power to witness. He accomplishes great transformations in the hearts of men. In Acts 4:31 we read that when the company of believers were assembled in prayer the place was shaken. But what must it have been like when the Holy Spirit Himself descended upon the heads of the disciples, imparting to them fervent love and the courage to suffer, setting them wholly on fire for God [...]
