On paths of suffering
- I praise Your name, O Lord,
“Yes-Amen” evermore,
although I can not understand. - God’s will is goodness
and loving-kindness.
Good are the ways He leads His own. - I’ll suffer gladly.
This will prepare me
to dwell in glory evermore. - On earth I’ll ever
stay by my Saviour,
who bore His cross to Calvary. - Yes, I will follow
the paths of sorrow
marked by Your cross, O dearest Lord. - “Heed not the suffering,
wait for the harvesting”
shall be my motto evermore. - “Dying” is gain to me,
for through it I will be
an heir of glory without end. - So I will suffer,
Jesus to offer
a gift to soothe His wounded heart. - Suff’ring will end one day
and be forever changed
to light and joy at Jesus’ throne. - Then with my Saviour
I’ll dwell for ever
and reign in glory at His side. - So praise the suffering,
our souls preparing
for great reward in heaven above. From My Father, I Trust You by M. Basilea Schlink
